Work-Study

Federal College Work-Study provides jobs for students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay educational expenses. The Program encourages community work and work related to a student’s course of study.

Work-Study is awarded based on each student’s individual need. Students are paid minimum wage and wages are paid monthly via direct deposit.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a current SPC student or accepted for admission.
  • Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) for the academic year you wish to receive Work -Study benefits.
  • Have FAFSA results and a completed financial aid file that shows qualifying need.
  • Have a Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status that is eligible for financial aid.
  • Have a valid state or government issued photo ID.
  • Have a valid bank account.
    • Work-Study payment is only made through electronic funds transfer.

Steps to Apply for Work-Study

  1. Contact SPC to check eligibility and receive signed Work-Study application:
  2. Search available Work-Study positions on the SPC website (Work Study Positions).
  3. Schedule an interview with the contact person listed on the position in which you’re interested.
  4. Once you are hired have your new employer sign your Work-Study application.
  5. Return the signed application to any SPC campus and pick up a Work-Study packet.
  6. Complete the Work-Study packet. You are NOT able to begin working until ALL of these documents are returned and you receive notification from your new employer.

Additional Information

The maximum number of hours a student is eligible to work is 19. Other financial aid awards and changes to your financial aid may affect the number of hours students qualify to work. Please note that students can only work one work-study position at a time.
